Greek Yogurt: Timeless & very nutritional

Made of fresh milk curdled and then fermented by means of bacteria, yogurt has always been one of the finest products of the Greek farming tradition since the ancient times. Thick, creamy and super tasty, the Greek yogurt is made of pure sheep’s milk in small dairy units. In larger ones, they usually make yogurt with fresh cow’s milk, be it skimmed or semi-skimmed. They also add ingredients favoring health and growth for kids, or make it with strained cow’s milk (with the fat included ranging from 0%-10%) and milk cream, or even pair it with fruits and cereals as a desert to boost its nutritional capacity.

Olive Oil

Greece is the world’s third largest producer of olive oil and ranks first in exports of virgin olive oil, which is the top-ranked olive oil classification category in the world. Homer referred to olive oil as liquid gold and Hippocrates noted its healing factors. Studies have shown that olive oil is the healthiest product among vegetable oils. Honey

Certainly honey was the first – and for quite a while – the only sweetener Greeks had in their diet. While its importance dates back to ancient time, even nowadays, it remains the most prestigious sweetener. Teas and Infusions with Herbs

“Petrykivka”: Ukrainian: Петриківський розпис) is a traditional Ukrainian decorative painting style, originating from the village of Petrykivka in Dnipropetrovsk oblast of Ukraine, where it was traditionally used to decorate house walls and everyday household items. The earliest known examples of this style date from the 18th century, but it continues to thrive and develop as a modern art form.

The distinctive features of this folk art style are its flower patterns, distinctive brush techniques, and its traditionally white background. In 2012 the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine recognized Petrykivka painting as a part of the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine, and it was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

The people of the village of Petrykivka decorate their living quarters, household belongings and musical instruments with a style of ornamental painting that is characterized by fantastic flowers and other natural elements, based on careful observation of the local flora and fauna.

This art is rich in symbolism: the rooster stands for fire and spiritual awakening, while birds represent light, harmony and happiness. In folk belief, the paintings protect people from sorrow and evil. Local people, and in particular women of all ages, are involved in this folk art tradition. Every family has at least one practitioner, making decorative painting an integral part of daily existence in the community. The painting traditions, including the symbolism of the ornamental elements, are transferred, renewed and enhanced from one generation to another.

Local schools at all levels, from pre-school to college, teach the fundamentals of Petrykivka decorative painting, with all children given the opportunity to study it. The community willingly teaches its skills and know-how to anyone who shows an interest. The tradition of decorative and applied arts contributes to the renewal of historical and spiritual memory and defines the identity of the entire community.

Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most populous continent after Asia. Most of the world’s diamonds come from Africa (around 95% as well as 50% of the world’s gold) and it produces 70% of the world’s cocoa beans!

The continent has up to 90 percent of the world’s chromium and platinum. The largest reserves of cobalt, diamonds, platinum and uranium in the world are in Africa. It holds 65 per cent of the world’s arable land and ten percent of the planet’s internal renewable fresh water source.

Africa, the second-largest continent, is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean. It is divided in half almost equally by the Equator. The continent includes the islands of Cape Verde, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Comoros.

The number one reason for travelers visiting Africa is to embark on a wildlife safari or climb Kilimanjaro. While Africa certainly has some of the most extensive wildlife viewing opportunities and one of the seven summits, there are many other reasons to travel to Africa.
